1️⃣ Eligibility

 

 

  • Open to participants worldwide

  • Participants must be 18 years or older (or have legal guardian consent where applicable)

  • Individuals and teams may participate

  • Teams may include IRL and/or remote members

 

 

 

 

2️⃣ Team Size

 

 

  • Teams of 1–5 participants

  • One submission per team

  • Team members may join or leave before the submission deadline

 

 

 

 

3️⃣ Build Requirements

 

 

  • Projects must be materially developed during the hackathon period

  • Teams may use:

     

    • Open-source libraries

    • Public APIs

    • Existing frameworks or tooling

     

 

 

Pre-existing code is allowed, provided:

 

  • The majority of the work is completed during the event

  • All prior work is clearly disclosed in the submission

 

 

 

 

4️⃣ Track Selection

 

 

  • Each team must select one primary track

  • Cross-track features are allowed

  • Judging will be based on the selected track

 

 

 

 

5️⃣ Submission Requirements

 

 

Each Devpost submission must include:

 

    • Project name

    • Selected track

  • Problem statement

  • Solution overview

  • Tech stack

  • Demo link or screenshots

  • Team member details

 

 

A demo video is encouraged but not required.

 

 

 

6️⃣ Judging & Decisions

 

 

  • Projects will be evaluated by HTCJ judges and partners

  • Judges’ decisions are final and binding

  • HTCJ reserves the right to:

     

    • Reassign tracks for judging purposes

    • Withhold awards if minimum standards are not met

     

 

 

 

 

⚖️ Legal & IP Terms

 

 

 

7️⃣ Intellectual Property (IP)

 

 

  • Teams retain 100% ownership of their intellectual property

  • Participation in HTCJ does not grant HTCJ ownership, equity, or licensing rights to submissions

 

 

By participating, teams grant HTCJ a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to:

 

  • Display project names, descriptions, screenshots, and demos

  • Use submissions for promotional, educational, and community purposes

 

 

No commercial use of IP will occur without explicit written consent.

 

 

 

8️⃣ Confidentiality

 

 

  • Participants are responsible for protecting their own confidential information

  • Do not submit proprietary or sensitive material you are not authorized to share

  • HTCJ is not responsible for any disclosure made by participants

 

 

 

 

9️⃣ Liability & Assumption of Risk

 

 

By participating, you agree that:

 

  • HTCJ, its partners, sponsors, organizers, and venues are not liable for:

     

    • Loss of data

    • Equipment damage

    • Personal injury

    • Financial loss

     

  • Participation is at your own risk

 

 

Participants are responsible for their own equipment, safety, and conduct.

 

 

 

10️⃣ No Guarantee of Investment or Advancement

 

 

Participation in HTCJ:

 

  • Does not guarantee funding, investment, incubation, or partnership

  • Any post-event opportunities are optional and discretionary

  • Advancement decisions are made independently by HTCJ or partners

 

 

 

 

11️⃣ Code of Conduct

 

 

  • All participants must behave professionally and respectfully

  • Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated

  • HTCJ reserves the right to remove participants who violate this policy

 

 

 

 

12️⃣ Compliance & Disqualification

 

 

Projects may be disqualified if they:

 

  • Violate these rules

  • Contain plagiarized content

  • Are primarily built outside the hackathon window

  • Engage in unethical or illegal activity

 

 

HTCJ reserves the right to interpret and enforce all rules.

 

 

 

13️⃣ Modifications

 

 

HTCJ reserves the right to:

 

  • Modify rules at any time

  • Adjust schedules, tracks, or judging criteria

  • Cancel or reschedule the event if necessary

 

 

All updates will be communicated via Devpost and official channels.

 

Eligibility

  • Open to all developers, designers, and entrepreneurs (16+).

  • Teams must have 2-5 members.

  • Cross-functional teams (e.g., 1 Dev + 1 Athlete) get bonus points.
